Meet the speaker #2 | Perturb 2027

Earning his PhD from the University of Washington, Dr. Junyue Cao went on to lead the Laboratory of Single-Cell Genomics and Population Dynamics at The Rockefeller University. Learn more about his career path.

Junyue Cao

Junyue Cao, Ph.D., is the Fisher Center Foundation Associate Professor at The Rockefeller University, where he leads the Laboratory of Single-Cell Genomics and Population Dynamics. His research develops scalable single-cell, spatial, and functional genomic technologies to define how cell populations change during mammalian development, aging, and disease. He pioneered combinatorial-indexing methods including sci-RNA-seq, sci-CAR, sci-fate, and sci-RNA-seq3, enabling the profiling of millions of cells and multiple molecular features. His laboratory uses organism-wide mapping and large-scale genetic perturbation to uncover cellular and regulatory mechanisms of aging and age-related disease. His honors include the NIH Director’s New Innovator Award and the Grand Prize of the Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists. Dr. Cao received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington and his B.S. from Peking University
